The Financial Controller leads the Farsight finance team and ensures that the company’s finance function is organized and efficient, producing accurate financial and management accounts and reports.
Management of the overall finance and accounting functions.
Oversight of the finance team including Farsight resources and external service providers (e.g. part-time CFO).
Preparation of budgets and cash flow forecasts.
Maintenance of accounting systems, e.g. QuickBooks, and of supporting transaction management systems - expense management (expensify.com) and accounts payable (bill.com).
Maintenance of subscription management system (SaaSOptics) to book Farsight’s business and to derive management reports on bookings, billings, and backlogs, and to inform periodic revenue recognition computations.
Timely production of board-mandated and internal financial reports including Income Statements, Balance Sheets, Statements of Cash Flows and financial performance tracking waterfall tables.
Support the various financial modelling and analyses as may be required from time to time, and oversee third-party valuations of the company in support of 409A or other fundraising-related efforts.
Cash management and treasury duties, including interfacing with banking vendor.
Ensuring that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained.
Oversight of the payroll process through third-party PEO vendor (TriNet).
Manage external vendors in the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with tax authorities.
Administer and reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA preferred, and CPA certification would be highly regarded.
Previous financial control and management reporting experience preferably in a SaaS-oriented start-up environment.
Demonstrated experience in managing a small accounting team.
The candidate should be a confident self-starter with the ability to operate in a dynamic start-up environment.
Should be able to demonstrate good attention to detail, good judgment showing logical decision making, and a hands on approach.
Computer literate with good excel skills and solid understanding of accounting software principles preferably with a number of the aforementioned systems (Quickbooks, expensify, bill.com, SaaSOptics).
