Maltego is a visual link analysis tool that, out of the box, comes with open source intelligence (OSINT) plug-ins called transforms. The tools offers real-time data mining and information gathering as well as the representation of this information on a node based graph making patterns and multiple order connections between said information easily identifiable. Maltego has great adoption and has over 500 000 registered community users and a range of commercial clients in industries ranging from law enforcement and intelligence agencies to finance and banking.
The Farsight Security DNSDB transforms expand the power of Maltego by enabling correlation and contextualization with realtime and historical DNS intelligence; also known as passive DNS data. Using the DNSDB transforms, for example, users can expose entire networks, gain an outside-in view of their infrastructure and pivot across DNS record types including domains, IPs, NX, MX, AAAA, SOA and many more. Wildcard searches are also available to expose hostnames/FQDNs (left side wildcard), associated domains (right side wildcard) and further pivoting across IPs to expose all associated domains, FQDNs, IPs, MX, NX, and other record types.
DNSDB is available on all Maltego solutions for free with limited results. To expand this trial and increase the results from the DNSDB transforms, users can get a DNSDB Trial API and insert it into their Maltego platform to utilize DNSDB for 30 days with 100 queries available per day. To signup for the free trial, contact sales@farsightsecurity.com.
